Color Hierachy

In SolidWorks there is a hierachy for the colors.

When changing colors remember this order of importance.

Part or File color is actually seen as the bottom of the pile.

As the below list progresses the next will take over the previous.

Part
Body
Feature
Face

As of 2007 you can remove all the extra (beyond) part by right clicking on the part name in the FMT and choose appearance --> color. There will be a button that says remove.

Shortcut key for 2008

When using your new installation of 2008 make sure to get used to using the ''S'' key for the all new ''Super Toolbar''

Updating the SolidWorks Serial Number on an existing installation

Go to windows control panel à add remove programs.  Choose the change button not the remove button.  When you get to the serial number page change the number and choose next.  After you choose next you can close the dialog.  Start up SolidWorks and your new serial number will be active.

Opening from the Assembly Drawing

To open a part or sub assy from the assy drawing you can right click on the part number in the BOM and choose open from the context sensitive menu.

Quick tip 1

To save time from clicking the save button all day long. Use ctrl + S

My first Blog Posting
